You’re invited to the virtual launch event for local Charlotte author, Vanessa Miller’s new novel Something Good! Vanessa will sit down with your Friendly Neighborhood Bookseller for an informal conversation about the who, the what, and the why of her latest novel. That’s not all… we intend to get the inside scoop about her extensive writing career (she’s written over 50 novels y’all!). Event guests will also have the opportunity to ask questions during our Q&A segment.
All pre-orders will be signed by Vanessa and will come with free swag. Pre-order customers will also be emailed the event link 48 hours before the event start time, so there’s no need to RSVP.

Our friends at Enderly Coffee Co. are hosting our Pop-Up Bookstore every Saturday during Black History Month 2022. In addition to coffee, we will have books for all ages, cozy reading apparel, and our signature Reading Is a Lifestyle journal.

Celebrate the launch of Nikole Hannah-Jones highly anticipated book The 1619 Project with The New York Times Magazine and Shelves! Hannah-Jones will be joined by Ibram X. Kendi for a discussion about the book, moderated by journalist Soledad O’Brien. Read more about the book here.
Later in the program, to celebrate the simultaneous publication of The 1619 Project: Born on the Water, a picture book adaption for young readers, Hannah-Jones will join co-author Renée Watson and illustrator Nikkolas Smith for a conversation moderated by local Charlotte author Derrick Barnes. The event will also feature an archival photo presentation by Kimberly Annece Henderson and a poetry reading by Honorée Fanonne Jeffers.
